Outreach Activities

Daycare Outreach : Once a month (on the first Wednesday and Thursday) the librarian visits the two daycare facilities in town to provide a library program. This usually consists of reading a book, a craft related to the theme of the book, and an active game also related to the book's theme.

Kits that include a bibliography of books on the theme, supplies to make the craft, and an explanation of the game are then available in the library for non-daycare children upon request.

Summer Reading Programs : The library participates in the state's annual Summer Reading Program. The schedule of events is made available through a flyer sent home to all elementary school children at the end of the school year. All activities are held at the Alvord City Hall because our library currently lacks space for programming.

Homeschool Assistance : The library collection holds many items (book, video, and online resources) to aid the homeschooling family. The librarian offers free online research classes to homeschool families by appointment only.

Community Spaces in the Library

We currently lack community spaces in the library. However, we are working hard to bring about the building of a new library facility.
